It all started when…

Objective: Explore reported opiate overdose deaths in the state of Pennsylvania over the last three decades. I was compelled to explore Pennsylvania out of other Northeastern states after Governor Tom Wolf declared the opioid epidemic as a full on crisis earlier this year. The particular data set includes information about each fatal overdose between 1991 and 2015 in the state of Pennsylvania. I have segmented the data by race, county, and number of overdoses in each county.

About

Insights: Across all counties, fatal overdose victims were predominantly caucasian. Between 2014 and 2015 each county experienced at least a 200% in opioid induced deaths.
